Job Description

We are seeking a Project Architect to join a growing architecture and planning practice with offices in Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC. This role is ideal for a technically strong architect who enjoys leading project teams, solving complex design and construction challenges, and delivering thoughtful, high-quality projects across higher education, civic, religious and mixed-use sectors. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about architectural detailing, project delivery, and collaboration. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with project managers, principals, consultants, and clients while taking ownership of project execution from design development through construction administration. Role and Responsibilities Lead the development and coordination of construction documents and technical project deliverables. Collaborate with project managers and design leaders to advance projects from concept through construction. Utilize Revit and BIM workflows to develop accurate, coordinated project documentation. Coordinate project teams, consultants, and engineering disciplines throughout the design process. Delegate and oversee production tasks while maintaining project schedules and quality standards. Review drawings and details to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements. Research and apply building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Participate in construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, site observations, and coordination with contractors. Anticipate and resolve design, technical, and construction-related challenges. Support client meetings, presentations, business development efforts, and project pursuits. Maintain organized project records and documentation in accordance with firm standards. Experience and Qualifications Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program. Architectural licensure or ability to become fully licensed within one year of hire required. Minimum 7 years of professional experience within an architectural design firm. Experience with higher education, civic, institutional, housing, or mixed-use projects preferred. Advanced proficiency in Revit and BIM project delivery workflows. Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, building systems, and construction administration. Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Enscape, and presentation software preferred. Strong verbal, written, graphic, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across project teams. Self-motivated professional with a strong attention to detail and commitment to project excellence.
