Job Description

Residential Construction Architect In-House Architect — The Kingston Group We're looking for an architect who sees construction as a craft, not just a transaction. You'll create drawings that don't just look good — they solve problems, guide buildability, and communicate confidence to our clients. What You'll Actually Do You'll own the visual and technical side of our projects from concept through construction. That means detailed drawings for remodels and new builds, shop drawings that contractors can actually build from, and elevations that show clients what they're getting. You'll work directly with project managers and field teams to problem-solve in real time — because the best design is one that works on site, not just on screen. Visual presentation matters to us, so clarity and aesthetics go hand in hand. And you'll be flexible enough to translate client vision into realistic budgets without losing the design integrity. Three-D modeling and emerging technologies, including AI, aren't optional here — they're tools you'll use to work faster and smarter. But you won't hide behind them. You'll stay grounded in how things actually get built. What We Need From You Strong technical drawing skills and the ability to read a site. Communication that reassures clients and aligns teams. The flexibility to manage competing priorities. A genuine interest in how design and budget work together. And the willingness to learn and adapt as our processes evolve. This Job Isn't For Everyone. Here's Why This role demands someone who can balance aesthetics with practicality — and that tension never fully goes away. You'll be in constant dialogue with project managers, contractors, and clients, which means you need to genuinely enjoy that collaboration, not tolerate it. We're not a traditional architecture firm; we're builders first, which means your drawings need to be buildable, not just beautiful. If you need clear separation between "design" and "execution," this won't feel right. If you see budget constraints as creative limitations rather than annoyances, you'll thrive here. And if you're resistant to new tools and ways of working, you'll feel frustrated. We're building a culture of accountability and craftsmanship. That means ownership, clear communication, and the humility to solve problems with the team — not around them. Why This Matters Your work directly shapes how clients experience their projects. The drawings you create set expectations, prevent costly mistakes, and demonstrate our professionalism. You're not just making blueprints; you're building trust. If this resonates with you, let's talk.
