Job Description

Knothe & Bruce Architects is a growing architectural firm with a diverse portfolio consisting of multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial projects. We are seeking an Architectural Associate/Architect III to join our dynamic team of professionals. This is a full-time opportunity focused on multifamily/mixed use and/or commercial projects. Your talents will contribute to our team by: Leading project analysis, project profile, and site analysis during initial phase of project development. Developing knowledge of zoning ordinances & entitlement process. Assisting and/or leading the Project Team Kick-off Meeting and Collaborative Design Workshops. Effectively executing project scope, objectives, requirements, schedule, hours budget, and resources from schematic through construction document phases independently or directing a small team. Preparing and developing plan sets using Revit. Ensuring drawings are being assembled correctly. Creating, developing, and revising construction documents using Revit including directing others in the development of construction documents. Researching and developing details to be considered by the standard details committee. Researching and identifying materials. Mentoring others on how to create construction details and how to review shop drawings. Leading the collaboration of General Contractor/Estimator, Quality Control, subcontractors, and suppliers for development of cost effective and constructible solutions for design issues. Incorporating other disciplines designs. Ensuring effective project collaboration between disciplines (e.g. MEP and Structural.) Independently reviewing shop drawings. Responding to plan holds and requests for information. Serving as a contact for the field during construction administration. Resolving field issues as they come up. Creating Construction Bulletins and addressing RFIs. Performing quality control reviews for projects. Communicating with Studio Managers, KBA stakeholders, clients, contractors, and subcontractors on a frequent basis about project status. Maintaining consultant relationships. Developing and/or continuously improving client relationships. Maintaining professional and technical knowledge. To be successful in this role, you will need: Associates or bachelor's degree in architecture is preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. 8+ years of experience in a similar role is required. 8+ years of previous experience with Revit is required. Previous experience in KBA's project type is preferred. Knowledge of building code requirements is required. The ability to work collaboratively with other team members is required. The ability to lead and manage projects through your own work and directing the team's work is required. Strong organizational and communication skills are required. Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office) are required. Strong creative problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail is required. Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking, are required. The ability to develop working relationships with Consultants, Clients, and General Contractors is required. The ability to interpret and translate building and design requirements into construction documents is required. Outstanding customer service skills when interacting with internal and external customers are required. The ability to effectively train and mentor less seasoned team members is preferred. Wisconsin Driver License is required. State licensure or pursuing licensure is preferred. AIA and/or NCARB preferred.
