ABOUT THE ROLE
The Asphalt Milling Operator / Foreman is a hybrid, working-leadership position. This individual will be an active part of the road crew—operating heavy milling equipment to deliver high-quality results—while providing overall on-site leadership, safety oversight, and coordination of crew activities on parking lots, streets, and highways.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Your responsibilities will span both on-site crew management and technical equipment operation:
On-Site Leadership:
Provide daily on-site leadership to the construction crew, coordinating and directing activities of workers engaged in asphalt milling.
Scheduling:
Coordinate project schedules and logistics directly with Project Superintendents.
Training & Development:
Ensure the proper training, safety mentoring, and skill development of all team members on the crew.
Documentation:
Complete and submit required field logs and documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
Equipment Operation:
Operate heavy milling machinery and support equipment effectively as part of the road crew.
Grade & Drainage Control:
Maintain a strong understanding of grades to ensure proper drainage is established once milling is complete.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect ongoing and finished work to ensure it meets standard project specifications, quality benchmarks, and customer expectations.
Flexibility:
Travel to multiple work sites; must be flexible to work either day or night shifts as required by the project schedule.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
License:
Valid state hoisting license (e.g., MA Hoisting License or local equivalent depending on assignment location).
Milling Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience performing asphalt milling work.
Technical Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of asphalt operations, including milling, paving, stripping, and proficient heavy equipment operation.
Transportation:
Must possess personal transportation to reliably travel to various regional job sites.
Leadership & Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to direct work and achieve high-quality results through others.
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
