Asphalt Paving Estimator

Superior Asphalt, Inc. has a proven reputation in Sarasota/Bradenton area as a reliable, family owned and operated business that has been providing high quality asphalt paving services to municipal, commercial, and residential customers for almost 20 years. We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Estimator that can support our high standards and professionalism to our clients and internal team. This role will manage, from inception to completion, the preconstruction and in some cases, the construction process for all projects assigned. This process includes business development; client engagement; detailed and comprehensive quantity takeoff; accurate cost evaluation; subcontractor/supplier bid solicitation regarding materials and scope of work.

General Responsibilities:

• Develop relationships with the client during the bidding phase, contractual phase and construction phase that establishes a level of understanding of the project scope, specifications, and contract.
• Work with Project Managers/Superintendents to ensure the project is equipped with the proper equipment and personal.
• Ensure the understanding of the contract documents and job specifications. Assist Project Managers to identify change order language and change orders.
• Review daily paperwork developed by the project including but not limited to safety meetings, quality control reports and foreman's reports.
• Develop project work plans and schedules.
• Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from subcontractors.
• Cultivate relationships with competent subcontractors and vendors to ensure preferred pricing.
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
• Attend pre-bid job meetings and site visits.

Requirements:

• Must have full working knowledge of FDOT standards, proficient in reading and analyzing job plans.
• Must be able to proficiently complete complex estimating tasks for projects in various phases of design and construction.
• Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, presentations, and proposals.
• Must have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with the team.
• Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and bidding software.
• Capability to work in a fast-paced environment while satisfying customer needs and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Ability to work under pressure and achieve required deadlines.
