Job Description

The Finish Grade Foreman is responsible for overseeing finish grading operations on heavy civil and site development projects. This role requires strong leadership, the ability to read and interpret grading plans, and hands-on experience operating a motor grader to achieve precise final grades. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate finish grading crews. Operate a motor grader to fine-grade subgrade, base, and finished surfaces. Read and interpret construction plans, cut/fill sheets, cross sections, and grade stakes. Set, check, and verify grades using survey equipment, grade rods, lasers, GPS, and other layout tools. Ensure final grades meet project specifications, tolerances, and drainage requirements. Communicate with superintendents, project managers, surveyors, and other trades. Plan daily work activities to maximize productivity and efficiency. Train and direct laborers and equipment operators as needed. Inspect work quality and make corrections to maintain grade accuracy. Maintain a safe work environment and enforce company safety procedures. Perform routine inspection of equipment and coordinate maintenance needs. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in finish grading or heavy civil site work. Proven ability to operate a motor grader proficiently. Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, slopes, and site preparation. Ability to read plans, establish elevations, and work from benchmarks. Experience with GPS grading systems preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work in varying weather and field conditions. Valid driver's license Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry materials and tools as needed. Ability to safely operate heavy equipment for long periods.
