Job Description
Summary The Asphalt Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating asphalt paving crews on construction projects. This position ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to project specifications and quality standards. The Foreman serves as the main point of communication between field crews, project managers, subcontractors, and equipment operators. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise daily asphalt paving operations and crew activities. Coordinate job site setup, traffic control, and equipment usage. Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and schedules. Ensure asphalt is placed, compacted, and finished to required standards. Monitor crew productivity and job progress. Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies. Inspect equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed. Communicate with project managers regarding project status, delays, or material needs. Maintain accurate daily reports, timekeeping, and production records. Train and mentor crew members on proper paving procedures and safety practices. Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company regulations. Coordinate with trucking, plant personnel, and subcontractors to maintain workflow. Identify and resolve field issues quickly to minimize downtime. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of asphalt paving experience. Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred. Strong knowledge of asphalt paving methods, grading, rolling, and compaction. Ability to read blueprints and construction plans. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and traffic control standards. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and extended hours as needed Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work outdoors for extended periods. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work around heavy equipment, hot asphalt, and active construction zones. Work Environment Outdoor construction job sites. Exposure to heat, dust, noise, and moving equipment. Overtime, night work, and weekend work may be required depending on project schedules.
