Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Asphalt Screw Operator to assist in the paving process by controlling the flow and distribution of asphalt as it is laid by the paver. This role is critical for ensuring the quality, consistency, and proper depth of the asphalt mat during road and surface construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Work alongside the paver operator to control the flow of asphalt from the hopper to the screed. Adjust the screed to ensure proper depth, width, and slope of asphalt being laid. Monitor material levels and communicate with the dump man and truck drivers to maintain a steady supply of asphalt. Ensure smooth and consistent application of asphalt with minimal segregation or imperfections. Check the quality and thickness of the mat using appropriate tools and make real-time adjustments as needed. Communicate effectively with the paving crew and foreman to maintain safe and efficient operations. Perform daily inspections and light maintenance of screed and related components. Assist in other labor duties as assigned during paving operations.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a screw operator or in asphalt paving operations. Solid understanding of asphalt paving techniques and equipment. Ability to work in outdoor conditions for extended periods. Good communication and teamwork skills. Must be safety-conscious and follow all company and site-specific safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus. Experience operating additional paving or construction equipment. Knowledge of DOT standards and paving specifications.
