Job Description
Lull Operator Job Description This role combines skilled operation of a lull forklift with hands-on wood framing work on commercial construction sites. You will safely operate heavy equipment on a multi-family construction project while also performing general labor and framing tasks when not actively running the machine. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, modern wood-framed structures within a professional framing subcontractor environment. Responsibilities Operate a lull forklift and other assigned heavy equipment safely and efficiently on commercial construction job sites. Handle materials, lift and place loads, and support framing crews by moving lumber, panels, and other construction materials as needed. Assist with wood framing activities when not operating the forklift, including helping framing crews with stick-framed and wall panel structures. Read and interpret blueprints and plans to ensure accurate placement of materials and adherence to construction specifications. Support framing operations on multi-family homes, assisted living buildings, townhomes, hotels, student housing, and podium-style apartment projects as assigned. Follow all site safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for all crew members. Coordinate with site supervisors, framers, and other trades to ensure smooth, efficient workflow and proper sequencing of work. Perform basic equipment checks and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with general labor tasks around the job site as needed. Essential Skills Valid 2A-1C hoisting license. Demonstrated experience operating a lull forklift on commercial construction job sites. Hands-on experience in commercial construction environments. Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and in compliance with site regulations. Capability to read and work from blueprints and construction plans. Comfort working on active construction sites and performing both equipment operation and general labor tasks. Strong awareness of construction site safety practices and procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on wood-framed multi-family, assisted living, townhome, hotel, student housing, or podium-style apartment projects. Familiarity with stick-framed and wall panel construction methods. Exposure to projects involving advanced hardware, hold down, and shear requirements. Ability to coordinate with multiple trades on complex, multi-story wood buildings. Willingness to support dedicated framing crews and follow detailed plans with precision. Why Work Here? The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with a strong emphasis on proper equipment use, accurate material placement, and teamwork on a busy construction site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
