In this energetic role, you will assist with asphalt paving, heavy equipment operation, and site preparation to ensure safe, efficient, and durable roadway construction. Your hands-on work will directly contribute to the development of construction projects, supporting community growth and transportation improvements. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in heavy equipment operation, road construction, and safety protocols while working outdoors on impactful infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Assist with asphalt paving operations, including spreading and leveling asphalt using hand tools and power equipment Operate heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and Caterpillar equipment to support construction activities Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy materials, moving supplies, and preparing work zones for paving and road maintenance Set up traffic control measures to ensure safety in work zones according to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations Conduct routine maintenance on tools and machinery, including welding repairs when necessary to keep equipment in optimal condition Follow strict safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies Skills Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and road construction processes Ability to perform manual labor involving heavy lifting and the use of hand tools and power tools Familiarity with traffic control procedures for work zones in accordance with FMCSA regulations Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and minor repairs of construction equipment Experience working outdoors on civil infrastructure or highway maintenance projects Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, welding, and construction site hazards This Asphalt Laborer role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to build a career in road construction.
