Position Description:

Palmetto Corp. is currently looking for a Luteman or Asphalt Raker. A Luteman (Asphalt Raker) is a skilled position that requires proficient technique to redistribute the asphalt mix correctly as it leaves the screed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all Palmetto Corp. Safety guidelines
• Spread asphalt with a rake using proper technique and maintained at a steady pace
• Ensure proper technique at seams and joins to insure a smooth surface with minimal segregation
• Shoveling asphalt and sweeping up debris
• Responsible for proper match points and limits of asphalt mix adjacent to concrete structures, manholes, water valves and other fixtures within the road surface
• Assist screed operator with even distribution of asphalt materials onto road
• Shovel asphalt mix into areas inaccessible to paving machines
• Complete other general laborer task as assigned such as cleaning and preparing of job sites
• Operate other equipment as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends (if needed).

Position Requirements Requirements:

• Must adhere to all Palmetto Corp. safety regulations.
• Regularly exposed to loud noise and all outdoor weather conditions such as dust and airborne particles
• Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects
• specifically using abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time
• Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination
• Must possess a good degree of stamina, as they are often standing for long shifts
• Noise level is generally loud
• Ability to move quickly
• Must be 18 years or older
