Job Summary Asphalt Operator / Asphalt Crew Member Fuller and Sons Construction - Amarillo, Texas Build What Matters. Whether you have years of paving experience or are looking to build a career in heavy civil construction, we want team members who take pride in producing quality work and helping their crew succeed. Position Summary The Asphalt Operator / Asphalt Crew Member is responsible for safely operating paving equipment, performing manual labor, and assisting the paving crew in placing, grading, compacting, and finishing asphalt on highways, streets, parking lots, and commercial projects. Crew members are expected to work as a team while maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship, and productivity. Essential ResponsibilitiesEquipment Operation Operate asphalt rollers, skid steers, loaders, power brooms, or other assigned paving equipment. Assist with operation of the asphalt paver as directed. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Identify equipment deficiencies and report maintenance needs. Maintain equipment cleanliness and proper operating condition. Asphalt Crew Duties Shovel, rake, lute, and level asphalt to grade. Assist with hand work around utilities, curbs, structures, and tight areas. Help establish proper paving grades and transitions. Assist with traffic control and work zone setup. Clean paving joints and prepare surfaces before paving. Assist with tack coat application when required. Support the paving crew in maintaining continuous production. Perform cleanup and secure the jobsite at the end of each shift. Safety Responsibilities Follow all OSHA, TXDOT, and company safety requirements. Wear required PPE at all times. Participate in daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses. Report unsafe conditions immediately. Work safely around moving equipment and traffic.
