Asphalt Paver Operator Longhorn Services Inc San Antonio, TX Job Details Full-time $22.94 - $27.63 an hour 15 hours ago Qualifications Finished product defect inspection Machine operation Paving equipment operation Machine operation safety procedures Machine adjustment Equipment adjustment (production tasks) Full Job Description The Asphalt Paving Machine Operator will be responsible for operating the asphalt paving machine during road, parking lot, driveway, and other paving projects. The operator must understand paving procedures, asphalt placement, grade control, material flow, equipment operation, and safe job site practices. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience operating asphalt paving equipment and be able to work safely and efficiently as part of a crew.
Duties include:
- Operate asphalt paving machines to place asphalt to the required width, depth, grade, and finish.
- Set up and adjust paving machine controls, conveyors, augers, screed components, and automatic grade controls as needed.
- Monitor asphalt material flow, temperature, paving speed, mat thickness, and surface quality during paving operations.
- Work closely with the screed operator, roller operators, lute workers, truck drivers, and paving crew to maintain steady production and quality workmanship.
- Read and follow project plans, grade stakes, layout markings, supervisor instructions, and job site specifications.
- Coordinate with asphalt delivery trucks to ensure proper positioning, safe unloading, and continuous material supply.
- Check finished asphalt surfaces for proper alignment, smoothness, joints, edges, and overall quality.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, cleaning, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow all company safety procedures, roadway work zone requirements, traffic control rules, and personal protective equipment guidelines.
