In this energetic role, you'll operate heavy paving equipment with precision, ensuring high-quality results that meet safety standards and project specifications. Your mechanical aptitude and construction site experience will be vital as you contribute to the successful completion of paving projects that enhance communities and transportation networks. Responsibilities Operate asphalt pavers and related heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, and dump trucks to lay asphalt efficiently and accurately. Coordinate with the construction team to prepare the site, including rebar installation, concrete forming, and other foundational tasks. Manage concrete mixers and concrete pumping equipment to ensure proper material flow during paving operations. Conduct routine inspections of paving machinery, perform basic mechanical troubleshooting, and perform minor maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition. Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to construction site safety standards. Assist with the setup and leveling of paving surfaces, ensuring smooth finishes through concrete finishing techniques. Support other construction activities such as loading materials with loaders or operating excavators as needed to maintain project momentum. Experience Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment, particularly asphalt pavers, loaders, excavators, and dump trucks. Hands-on knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, finishing, and rebar installation on construction sites. Familiarity with construction site procedures, safety regulations, and the use of commercial vehicles for transportation within job sites. Mechanical knowledge related to maintaining and troubleshooting paving machinery and related equipment. Prior experience in commercial construction environments is highly desirable. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred for operating or driving large vehicles on-site or between locations. Strong understanding of construction processes including concrete forming, paving techniques, and site preparation.
