Screed Operator

Job summary: Operate the controls on the free-floating screed attached to the paver vehicle to control the quantity and consistency of asphalt being laid.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate valves to regulate flow of asphalt at a specified rate.
• Signals asphalt paving machine operator to start and stop paving machine.
• Observes distribution of material over road surfaces to ensure uniform distribution.
• Turns handwheels to set angle and depth of screed.
• Uses depth gauge, verifies depth specifications of compacted asphalt.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of paving equipment and paving process.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to do manual labor.
