Job Title:
Boiler Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Boiler Technician to ensure the efficient operation of various systems including refrigeration, steam generation, compressed air, hot water, treated water, and glycol systems. The role involves starting systems, observing their operation, and adjusting mechanisms to control fluid levels, pressure, and temperature. You will maintain equipment using your knowledge of water chemistry, respond to emergency calls, and ensure the continued operation of production-related refrigeration equipment, utilities, and HVAC systems. Responsibilities Start systems and observe their operation. Read gauges and instruments, adjusting mechanisms to control fluid levels, pressure, and temperature. Maintain refrigeration systems, steam generation, compressed air, hot water, treated water, glycol, and other systems. Use knowledge of water chemistry to service equipment. Monitor utilities used by the building. Respond to emergency calls regarding refrigeration on the production floor. Ensure continued production operation related to refrigeration equipment, utilities, and HVAC equipment. Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment. Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair utility systems equipment as needed. Perform pipefitting and plumbing repairs. Repair or rebuild pumps, valves, regulators, traps, and fans. Handle other duties as assigned. Essential Skills State of Ohio, High Pressure Boiler Operator or Third-Class Stationary Engineer License. At least 3 years of experience in operation, repair, and maintenance of boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, and utility equipment/systems. Experience in ammonia refrigeration and electrical controls preferred. EPA refrigerant recovery certification preferred. HAZMAT training certification preferred. Ability to detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms, or instruments indicating hazardous conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manufacturing experience preferred. Must be willing and able to participate on a HAZMAT team. Legible handwriting with attention to detail. Ability to climb stairs and stand for long periods of time. Work Environment This role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled facility with FDA regulation and mostly automated machines. All candidates train on days for 4-8 weeks and work 12-hour shifts from Thursday to Saturday and every other Wednesday, with some daily and weekend overtime. The schedule follows a rotating 3-4 format, ensuring flexibility and balance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Solon, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.42 - $43.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
