FIELD POSITION

for an experienced hands-on leader who can read prints, direct the work, perform welding and fitting, and take a project from the drawing to completion.

FIELD EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED

This is NOT a shop-only position. Candidates must have significant hands-on field experience with industrial boiler, pressure vessel, heat exchanger, and piping work. The ideal candidate will have experience with boiler repair, boiler re-tubes, vessel welding and installation, and power piping in industrial plants and other field environments. Responsibilities Lead and perform field welding, fitting, and mechanical work. Perform boiler repair and boiler re-tube work in the field. Weld, fit, repair, and install pressure vessels in field environments. Perform installation, repair, and modification of boilers and heat exchangers . Fit and weld process and power piping . Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric drawings, blueprints, and weld procedures. Take a print and run with the job from layout and fit-up through completion . Determine materials, dimensions, fit-up requirements, and sequence of work. Perform welding in all positions . Perform pipe fitting, layout, alignment, tack welding, and final welding. Lead crews and coordinate daily field activities. Maintain quality and ensure work is completed according to applicable ASME Code requirements. Communicate with customers, project management, inspectors, and other trades. Troubleshoot field issues and make sound decisions to keep the project moving. Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment. Required Experience Significant field experience in industrial welding/mechanical construction. Hands-on experience with boiler repair and boiler re-tubes . Hands-on experience with pressure vessel welding and installation in the field . Experience with boilers, heat exchangers, and power/process piping . Strong pipe fitting and layout skills. Ability to weld in all positions . Ability to read and understand prints, isometrics, weld symbols, and WPS requirements. Ability to independently take a drawing/print and determine how to execute the work. Previous lead, foreman, or crew-lead experience strongly preferred. ASME Code Experience Candidates must have experience working in an ASME Code environment , including experience with an ASME Code shop that builds: Pressure vessels Boilers Heat exchangers A strong understanding of ASME Code fabrication and welding requirements is required. Welder Qualification Test Candidates will be required to successfully complete three weld tests : 1. Stainless Steel GTAW (TIG) 2½" NPS pipe Schedule 80 0.276" wall thickness 6G position 308 filler metal 2. Carbon Steel GTAW (TIG) 2½" NPS pipe Schedule 80 0.276" wall thickness 6G position 3. Carbon Steel SMAW (Stick) 2½" NPS pipe Schedule 80 0.276" wall thickness 6G position 6010 root / 7018 filler
