Our company focuses almost entirely on boilers, burners, steam systems, and combustion equipment, rather than general HVAC work. We support critical heating and process systems in: Hospitals Schools and universities Manufacturing plants Food processing facilities Industrial process environments Becker Boiler is one of the few ASME certified boiler and pressure vessel shops in Wisconsin and has developed a reputation for solving complex technical problems and performing high quality field repairs. Technicians at Becker develop deep expertise in boiler systems and steam equipment while working alongside a highly skilled team. Position Overview We are hiring an Industrial Boiler Technician and/or Burner Controls Technician to perform service, maintenance, repair, and installation work on commercial and industrial boiler systems. This role focuses on industrial boiler and steam systems rather than residential or light commercial HVAC work. This role focuses primarily on mechanical boiler service, including work on steam systems, piping, valves, burners, and pressure vessel components. Candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds including: Boiler service technicians Industrial maintenance technicians Pipefitters Welders Mechanical service technicians HVAC technicians Electricians Controls technicians Strong welding, fabrication, electrical control skills are valuable but not required . Becker will provide training and support for technicians who want to expand their skill set over time.
Mechanical Track:
Primary Responsibilities Perform service, maintenance, and repair work on industrial and commercial boiler systems Diagnose and repair mechanical issues related to steam, hydronic, and combustion systems Perform piping repairs and component replacement on steam, condensate, hydronic, and gas systems Replace and repair boiler tubes, valves, traps, pumps, expansion tanks, and related components Assist with burner service work including burner replacement, refractory repairs, and mechanical adjustments Perform pressure vessel and piping repairs when required Assist with system startups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities Read and interpret drawings, piping diagrams, and manufacturer service manuals Work safely in industrial environments including confined spaces and elevated areas Follow safety procedures including lockout tagout and hot work procedures Complete job documentation and service reports
Electrical Track:
Primary Responsibilities Troubleshoot burner and boiler electrical systems Diagnose control circuit and safety interlock issues Work with burner management systems and flame safeguard controls Perform electrical wiring and field troubleshooting Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Assist with burner startup, commissioning, and tuning Support combustion analysis and burner performance diagnostics Work with controls platforms such as Fireye, Honeywell, Siemens, and similar systems Collaborate with mechanical boiler technicians on integrated system troubleshooting Participate in manufacturer training programs Perform hands on service work in industrial and commercial environments Minimum Qualifications Experience working on boilers, steam systems, or industrial mechanical systems preferred Mechanical troubleshooting ability Ability to read basic mechanical drawings or piping diagrams Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail Valid driver license Ability to lift approximately 75 pounds Ability to work in industrial environments including heights, confined spaces, and mechanical rooms Valuable Skills and Experience The following experience is helpful but not all required : Welding or fabrication experience Pipefitting or steam piping experience Boiler maintenance or service experience Experience working on pressure vessels Burner or combustion system experience Industrial maintenance experience Experience reading P and ID diagrams or technical manuals Rigging or lift equipment experience Industrial electrical work Industrial maintenance Automation or controls systems HVAC control systems Becker Boiler can provide training and certification support for technicians looking to develop additional technical skills such as welding, piping, or combustion service. Travel and Schedule Start and end most workdays at Becker Boiler in St Francis Most employees work between eight and ten hours per day. Typical workweeks range 45 - 50 hours per week, with additional overtime available on larger projects.
