Job Description

Mason / Hardscape Laborer — Subcontractor (1099) 1OAK Hardscapes Raleigh, NC Job Details Contract $4,000 - $10,000 a month 1 day ago Qualifications Sawing Brick paving Removing debris Phone communication Outdoor work Heavy equipment operation Concrete finishing 3 years Stone paving Dimensional measurements Permeable paving Construction site experience Concrete forming Gravel paving Concrete paving Hardscaping construction projects Clean workspace maintenance Communication skills Entry level Full Job Description About 1OAK Hardscapes 1OAK Hardscapes is a premium outdoor living contractor serving Raleigh and Wake County — patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, and more. We're not a typical contractor. Every project starts with a photorealistic 3D design that the homeowner approves before we break ground. Materials are purchased directly by the homeowner at cost — no markup, full transparency. When the crew shows up, materials are staged on-site and the job is scoped to a precise spec. There are no surprises. We're building toward consistent, predictable job flow across multiple service categories. The right subcontractor partner doesn't chase work — they have a steady schedule because we keep the pipeline full. Pay Per square foot — $4,000 to $10,000 per month depending on volume and quality of work. Pay is calculated per square foot based on job scope — rate and structure are discussed directly with us on your call. We pay a premium for premium standards. What We're Offering Per-square-foot pay — you earn based on what you build, not how long it takes Premium rate for demonstrated quality — the better your work, the better you're compensated. Rates discussed with Operations Lead on the call. Consistent job flow — we generate leads through multiple channels and maintain a full estimating pipeline Materials staged on-site before you arrive — no waiting on deliveries, no scope surprises Every job comes with a precise 3D design spec — you know exactly what you're building before you start Operations Lead is on-site or directly reachable throughout every job Payment clears the same week the job closes after Operations Lead walkthrough — no delays, no disputes This is not project-by-project work. We're looking for a sub partner to grow with — someone who wants a reliable schedule, consistent standards, and a contractor who pays on time and respects the craft. Responsibilities & Duties Report to the job site on time with all equipment loaded and ready — wet saw, plate compactor, standard hand tools Review the 3D design spec and job scope before beginning any work — confirm measurements and layout match the approved design Excavate to the specified base depth — no shortcuts. Measure and confirm before proceeding to base material. Install base material to spec, compact in lifts, and verify grade and drainage before laying any pavers Install pavers to pattern, alignment, and joint spacing per the approved design Use all materials listed on the job purchase order — nothing left over that should have been installed Photograph each phase: excavation complete, base layer complete, and final install complete Clean the job site thoroughly at completion — debris removed, surface swept, materials staged or cleared. The site leaves cleaner than it arrived. Communicate proactively with Operations Lead throughout the job — flag any issues, scope questions, or unexpected site conditions before making a decision on your own Be available by phone during job hours — if something changes on-site, Operations Lead needs to know immediately Our Standards — Read These Before Emailing We built this section because it saves everyone time. If these standards describe how you already work, call us. If they sound unreasonable, this isn't the right fit — and that's okay. Base depth to spec — every time. Excavation follows the job scope. No shortcuts. If the spec calls for 6 inches of compacted base, that's what gets built — measured and documented. All materials on the PO get used. Homeowners purchase materials directly at our cost. Every item on the purchase order is accounted for in the finished job. Nothing disappears from the site. Own your equipment. Wet saw, plate compactor, and standard hand tools are your responsibility. You arrive equipped and ready to work — no sharing, no delays waiting on gear. Photo documentation at each phase. Photos at excavation, base layer, and install completion. This is how we stand behind our work and how you get paid without dispute. Build to the 3D design spec. Every job comes with a pre-approved photorealistic 3D design. You're executing a precise spec — not improvising. Site cleanup is a deliverable. Every job site leaves cleaner than it arrived. Debris removed, materials staged or cleared, surface swept. This is part of the job — not optional. Communication is non-negotiable. You are reachable during job hours. You flag issues before making decisions. You do not go quiet on a job site. Operations Lead walkthrough before final payment. A quality check happens at every job. If the work is solid, this is a 10-minute conversation. We charge homeowners a premium because we deliver a premium. That promise only holds if the work on the ground is built to the same standard. We're not looking for someone who builds fast. We're looking for someone who builds right. What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years experience installing pavers, hardscapes, or masonry — you've done this before and it shows Proven ability to follow a scope without improvising — you build what the spec says, not what's easier Own your equipment — wet saw, plate compactor, and standard hand tools required Strong communication — you pick up the phone, you answer texts, you flag problems before they become surprises. Unresponsive subs are a dealbreaker. Reliable crew or the ability to work as a solo installer on smaller jobs Dependable transportation — you show up on time Available for consistent weekly work — not just one-off jobs References from prior contractors or homeowners — we will call them As our service offerings expand into retaining walls, fire features, decks, and outdoor living, the right partner grows with us into those categories. Experience beyond paver work is a strong plus. What You Won't Deal With Working With Us Waiting on materials — everything is staged before you arrive Unclear scope — you have a 3D design and a written spec for every job Equipment sharing or scheduling around shared tools — you bring your own and work on your schedule Slow payment — final payment releases within the same week the job closes after Harvey's walkthrough Disorganized scheduling — we run a CRM and jobs are confirmed and coordinated in advance A contractor who disappears — Harvey is reachable throughout every job Engagement Structure (1099) Independent contractor role — you will receive a 1099-NEC at year end W-9 required before your first job — non-negotiable Subcontractor agreement covering scope expectations, payment terms, and quality standards signed before any work begins Equipment ownership — wet saw, plate compactor, standard hand tools — is a condition of engagement Payment made per job upon completion and Operations Lead quality walkthrough How to Apply — Serious Inquiries Only We don't use online applications. Send an email directly. Keep it brief — we're not looking for a resume, just enough to know if it makes sense to talk. We respond to qualified inquiries within 48 hours.
