Job Description
On behalf of a well‑established industrial automation and electrical power systems integrator, we are supporting the hire of an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a major, high‑value engineering project.
About the ClientOur client is a long‑standing engineering and systems integration business delivering mission‑critical power and automation projects across utility, energy, transportation, and industrial sectors. They are known for executing technically complex work across the full project lifecycle, from detailed engineering through implementation, testing, and commissioning.
Projects are large in scale, highly technical, and client‑facing, requiring strong ownership, technical credibility, and delivery focus.
The RoleThis opportunity is for a Technical Project Manager who will take ownership of a single, large-scale engineering project, acting as the dedicated project lead and primary client interface.
The role is best suited to someone who started their career in engineering and later transitioned into project management, with the capability to manage technical scope, commercial obligations, and delivery milestones without directly line‑managing engineers.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the end‑to‑end delivery of a complex engineering projectAct as the main point of contact for the clientEnsure compliance with scope, technical specifications, and contractual requirementsManage project schedules, milestones, documentation, and reportingOversee technical execution activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)Coordinate closely with Engineering Managers and multidisciplinary technical teamsEnsure delivery aligns with quality, safety, and performance expectationsTravel occasionally to client sites across the US (typically short, infrequent visits)Required Experience & Background5+ years of engineering experienceStrong technical background in:
Substation automation or process / industrial automationMedium and large-scale voltage systemsDemonstrated experience managing complex, engineering‑led projectsPreference for candidates who have transitioned from an engineering role into PMComfortable managing projects without direct responsibility for engineering staffConfident communicator with experience in client-facing environments
