Full Job Description Position Overview:
The masonry field laborer will assist skilled masons in various masonry tasks, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to high-quality standards. This position requires physical stamina, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn and develop masonry skills.Key Responsibilities:
1. Assistance inMasonry Work:
o Support masons in the preparation and installation of masonry materials, including bricks, blocks, and stones. o Assist in mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete and mortar as required. 2.Material Handling:
o Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites, ensuring they are organized and readily available for use. o Transport materials to and from job sites using hand trucks, dollies, or forklifts as needed. 3.Site Preparation:
o Prepare work areas by cleaning and clearing debris to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. o Set up scaffolding, ladders, and other temporary structures as needed for masonry tasks. 4.Tool Maintenance:
o Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently, ensuring proper usage and maintenance. o Clean and maintain tools and equipment after use, reporting any malfunctions to supervisors. 5.Safety Compliance:
o Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your team members. o Participate in safety meetings and training sessions, adhering to all site-specific safety requirements. 6.Quality Control:
o Assist in ensuring the quality of work by following project specifications and guidelines. o Report any issues or discrepancies to the foreman or supervisor immediately. 7.Learning and Development:
o Take the initiative to learn masonry techniques and skills from experienced masons, participating actively in training opportunities. o Show a willingness to develop a comprehensive understanding of masonry practices and safety measures. 8.Team Collaboration:
o Work collaboratively with masons and other laborers to ensure efficient completion of projects. o Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and any challenges encountered.Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 lbs without assistance.
- Occasionally lift heavier loads (e.g., mortar bags, CMUs) over 75 lbs with team lifting or mechanical assistance.
- Stand and walk for extended periods ( 8+ hours per shift ).
- Work on uneven, muddy, or debris-covered surfaces.
- Frequently bend, stoop, and kneel to mix mortar, set blocks, or work at ground level.
- Climb ladders and scaffolding up to several stories high while carrying tools or materials.
- Maintain balance while working at heights.
- Push and pull wheelbarrows filled with mortar, bricks, or debris weighing over 100 lbs .
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements, including gripping, troweling, and lifting materials.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
- Exposure to dust, debris, and loud noise from construction equipment.
- Maintain physical effort throughout an entire shift, including working overtime when required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in construction or masonry work is a plus but not required; on- the-job training will be provided.
- Basic knowledge of masonry materials, tools, and techniques is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license is preferred but not mandatory.
