Dawson Construction LLC, has immediate opening for Carpenters , working on projects in Haines, Alaska . PURPOSE:
Build highly successful projects for our clients, partners, and communities. Position Summary Constructs, installs, erects and repairs fixtures and structures made from wood, steel and other materials. Performs concrete forming, wood or metal framing, drywall, and door and casework installation. Essential Functions Ensures safety is an everyday topic and supersedes all other factors to prevent accidents and create a safe working environment for everyone. Works with blueprints or instructions from supervisors Understands and adheres to safety and quality control requirements Works with materials such as wood, steel, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall Utilizes chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures Joins materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives Works off of stilts, ladders, scaffolding and lifts Uses fall protection devices and harnesses, as required Checks work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications Works at varying heights, often greater than 10' above ground Uses levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure Works with prefabricated buildings Installs cabinets and trim Creates structures for pouring concrete Erects scaffolding Installs partitions, doors, and windows Moves and install machinery Exemplifies the culture of hard work and continuous improvement while fostering stability and sustainable growth. Demonstrates a dedication to clients through quality services, building long term relationships, and ensuring projects exceed expectations. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work Attention to detail Manual dexterity Math skills; basic math is used everyday Problem-solving skills Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions Ability to work independently, complete daily activities according to work schedule, and meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Ability to lift heavy objects up to 100 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions Ability to communicate orally and in writing, as well as understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
