Job Description
Position Summary:
The Carpenter General Foreman provides overall leadership and direction for multiple Carpenter crews, including Foremen, Carpenters, and Carpenter Helpers. This role coordinates and oversees the planning, layout, and execution of concrete formwork and carpentry operations. The General Foreman ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and company standards. On certain projects, the General Foreman may serve as the highest-ranking field representative in the absence of a Superintendent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate the activities of Carpenter Foremen, Carpenters, and Carpenter Helpers. Direct field operations for all carpentry and concrete formwork tasks on assigned projects. Plan, schedule, and organize daily and weekly work assignments to meet project timelines. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure all layout and formwork are performed accurately. Review and verify measurements, elevations, and layout prior to concrete placement. Inspect formwork, rebar, embeds, anchor bolts, and finished concrete to ensure compliance with design and quality standards. Coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize productivity and minimize delays. Communicate daily progress, manpower needs, and material requirements to the Superintendent or Project Manager. Lead safety meetings, enforce company safety standards, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Manage quality control processes and documentation for assigned work areas. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Foremen and field personnel. Maintain accurate time, equipment, and material usage records. Collaborate with other trades and subcontractors to resolve field conflicts. Represent the company professionally when acting as the senior field leader on site. Ensure all work is performed in a drug-free, safety-first environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of carpentry experience in commercial or industrial construction, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or Foreman-level role. Advanced knowledge of formwork systems, concrete placement, and structural carpentry. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications. Proven experience managing multiple crews and coordinating complex field operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Strong understanding of construction safety and quality control practices. Ability to anticipate material and manpower needs and plan work proactively. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel. Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods. Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Regular bending, kneeling, and reaching on uneven terrain. Ability to work at heights and around heavy equipment. Tolerance for varying weather conditions and extended field assignments. Working Conditions:
