Job Description

Salary Information Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n•A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations•\r\n Nature of Work The fundamental reason this\r\nposition exists is to provide leadership to carpenters and laborers working for\r\nthe construction, maintenance, and repair of City properties.� Incumbents determine work methods and procedures\r\nand participate in carpentry assignments.\r\nThey may supervise the work of journey level, semi-skilled, and\r\nunskilled assistants in the construction, alteration, and maintenance of City\r\nproperties.� Employees receive\r\nassignments in oral or written form, frequently accompanied by sketches, diagrams,\r\nand blueprints.� Work is reviewed by the\r\nBuilding Construction Supervisor for conformance with instructions and building\r\nspecifications and for adherence to codes and regulations.� This classification is distinguished from the\r\nposition of Carpenter I by the leadership responsibilities associated with the\r\nposition as well as the additional experience required or the ability to work\r\nindependently on advanced level projects.\r\n Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED.\r\nMust have three (3) years of carpentry experience performing rough\r\nand/or finished carpentry work. \r\n
NOTE:
\r\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\r\nknowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n Kind of Examination Applications are being accepted to fill�two (2) vacancies or any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the�City of Montgomery Building Maintenance.�Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and attached supplemental questionnaire.� For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were.� If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants.� Tied scores will not be broken.
