Class:
Under general supervision, performs journey level carpentry work as a full-time assignment; or in general, skilled maintenance and repair work. Incumbent may guide the work of subordinates, helpers, or apprentices. Incumbent performs assigned duties at various locations after receiving assignments from the supervisor who defines objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and assists the employee with unusual situations that do not have clear precedents. Performs routine and extraordinary carpentry maintenance to tenant buildings and offices. Builds and repairs cabinet rails stiles, drawers, bottoms, and doors. Replaces interior and exterior doors; replaces window frames, damaged wood in floor, small furniture, stairways and other appurtenances. Removes and replaces framing, decking, and roofs. Builds and remodels offices; installs metal fire doors, and jambs. Removes debris from fire damaged units and constructs replacement housing. Builds forms for retaining walls and foundations; frames new structures preparatory to plastering. Constructs scaffolding. Performs milling, wood turning and pattern work from blueprints, drawings, sketched, specifications, or verbal instructions. Maintains tools and equipment in satisfactory working condition. Requisitions materials, maintains accurate work and supply records. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school graduation or equivalent; supplemented by four (4) years of experience in a specific trade, including completion of an approved apprenticeship program or equivalent evidence of journeyman status; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid California Class "C" Driver's License.
EXAMINATION

will be invited to the testing process, which may include any combination of oral, written and/or performance examination. Applicants must pass each phase of the testing process with a rate of 70% or higher to be placed on the "Certified List". Generation of a Certified List does not mean that there are any vacant and available positions at this time. The Certified List will be available for not less than 6 consecutive calendar months.
THE EXAMINATION FOR THIS POSITION WILL OCCUR ON DAY
