This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who can walk into a home, assess repair or improvement needs, develop a clear scope of work, estimate labor and materials, and then complete or coordinate the work through completion. The ideal candidate is a skilled journeyman-level carpenter with strong remodeling experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage smaller service-type projects independently from start to finish. Must have residential remodeling/handyman experience to be considered for the role.

What You'll Do In this role, you will support both carpentry production and small-service project work.
Responsibilities may include:
Meet with clients in their homes to understand repair, maintenance, remodeling, or home improvement needs. Review existing conditions, take measurements, photos, and notes, and identify potential issues or constraints. Develop clear scopes of work, including assumptions, exclusions, labor needs, materials, and subcontractor support when needed. Prepare accurate estimates for small projects, handyman work, and service-type requests. Present recommendations and options to clients in a professional, helpful, and solutions-focused manner. Complete hands-on carpentry, repair, and remodeling work independently or with support from others. Coordinate materials, subcontractors, inspections, and project timelines as needed. Identify discrepancies between drawings, scope, or jobsite conditions and communicate clearly with the project team. Communicate with Project Manager and help keep projects on schedule, on budget, clean, organized, and safe. Provide regular project updates, photos, documentation, and communication through company systems. Represent Harrell Design + Build professionally with clients, coworkers, trade partners, and vendors. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who has: 5+ years of construction, remodeling, carpentry, handyman, or small-project service experience. Journeyman-level skills in rough carpentry, finish carpentry, repairs, structural work, and general remodeling. Strong experience with small projects, service work, punch list work, repairs, and handyman-style projects. Ability to estimate labor, materials, contractor costs, and project timelines. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and estimates. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in occupied homes. Excellent client communication skills, including the ability to explain options, pricing, and next steps. Strong organization, professionalism, reliability, and follow-through. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and jobsite safety equipment. Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and respectful jobsite. Personal hand and power tools consistent with company expectations. This Role May Be a Great Fit If You Are A skilled carpenter who enjoys variety and smaller projects. Comfortable meeting directly with homeowners. Able to look at a repair or remodel request and figure out what needs to happen. Confident estimating work and explaining recommendations to clients. Someone who can both plan the work and do the work. Professional, organized, proactive, and calm under pressure. General availability needed Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Physical Requirements This role requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, lift, carry, and move throughout the workday. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds and perform hands-on construction and carpentry tasks safely. Compensation Pay is based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation Range:
$28-$42 per hour
