• Job Title: Finish Carpenter
• Job Description
• This role is a senior, hands-on finish carpentry position focused on the installation and fabrication of high-end finish elements in luxury residential and high-end commercial environments.

You will work primarily on custom trim, millwork, doors, and advanced finish details rather than project management or superintendent duties. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the role begins as a 5month contract-to-hire with the clear expectation of full-time permanent employment upon successful performance and cultural fit.

• Responsibilities
• + Perform high-level finish carpentry in luxury residential and high-end commercial settings, consistently delivering exceptional craftsmanship and detail.

+ Install custom trim packages, including crown molding, baseboards, shoe moldings, window and door casings, and other detailed trim components.

+ Install decorative wall and ceiling features such as wainscoting, coffered ceilings, decorative wall panel systems, feature walls, architectural details, custom wood ceiling treatments, beam wraps, and decorative beams.

+ Execute millwork installation including custom cabinetry, built-in entertainment centers, library shelving, closet systems, reception desks, custom furniture components, architectural millwork packages, and commercial and executive office finish systems.

+ Install interior and exterior doors, including pocket doors and barn doors, and perform commercial hardware installation, ensuring fine adjustments for proper operation and consistent reveals.

+ Carry out advanced finish work such as scribing materials for seamless installation, creating tight paint-grade and stain-grade finishes, and matching existing architectural details.

+ Read and interpret plans, elevations, blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to plan and execute finish carpentry tasks accurately.

+ Fabricate custom finish details when required to achieve design intent and resolve unique field conditions.

+ Identify and correct out-of-square, out-of-plumb, and uneven conditions to meet premium finish standards.

+ Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, protecting client property and finished surfaces at all times.

+ Coordinate daily tasks with project leadership while completing assignments with minimal supervision and following company quality standards and installation procedures.

+ Present a polished, professional demeanor on occupied job sites, including homes and executive offices, and communicate respectfully and professionally with clients and project stakeholders.

+ Interact comfortably with affluent homeowners, executives, business owners, architects, designers, and C-suite stakeholders while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding client properties, business operations, and personal information.

+ Demonstrate exceptional customer service and field problem-solving skills, addressing issues while preserving design intent and client satisfaction.

• Essential Skills
• + Minimum of 8+ years of professional carpentry experience.

+ At least 5+ years focused specifically on finish carpentry and millwork installation.

+ Proven experience working on luxury residential or high-end commercial construction projects.

+ Strong understanding of premium finish standards and high-end construction practices.

+ Expert-level finish carpentry abilities, including independent installation of crown molding, baseboards, casing, paneling, and millwork.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, elevations, and specifications accurately.

+ Advanced understanding of layout and measurement techniques for precise finish installation.

+ Experience with both stain-grade and paint-grade finishes, including preparation and installation to a high standard.

+ Ability to identify and correct out-of-square, out-of-plumb, and uneven conditions in framing and surfaces.

+ Ownership and maintenance of professional-grade finish carpentry tools suitable for high-end work.

+ Proficiency with finish nailers, miter saws, table saws, routers, levels, lasers, track saws, and specialty finish tools.

+ Familiarity with modern jobsite technology and documentation tools used for planning and communication.

+ Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach while performing detailed finish work.

+ Capability to lift and carry materials weighing 50+ pounds safely on active job sites.

+ Excellent hand-eye coordination to perform precise, detailed finish carpentry.

• Work Environment
• You will primarily work independently or as part of a small crew alongside a foreman and other carpenters on active construction and remodeling sites.

Projects are located throughout the South Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, including communities such as San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside, Redwood City, Stanford, and Portola Valley, with occasional work elsewhere in the greater Bay Area. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities when project schedules require. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved business travel between project sites. You will work in a mix of occupied homes, executive offices, and active construction environments, requiring consistent protection of client property and finishes. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching, as well as lifting and carrying materials over 50 pounds. You will use professional-grade finish carpentry tools and equipment, including finish nailers, miter saws, table saws, routers, levels, lasers, track saws, and specialty finish tools, along with modern jobsite technology and documentation tools. A polished, professional appearance, excellent hygiene, and appropriate work attire are expected, particularly when working in occupied luxury residences and executive spaces.

• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $35.

00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
