Job Description

BOAT CARPENTER/BOATBUILDER TRAINEE
Svendsen's Bay Marine is a modern boatyard located in Richmond, California, on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay. We provide haulout and repair services to sail and power yachts, Coast Guard vessels and commercial vessels, including water taxis, tugboats, pilot boats and marine vessels of all kinds. We are seeking trainee boatbuilders to work with wood and composites. This is an opportunity to learn the boat carpenter/boatbuilding trade while building a custom yacht. Some prior training or experience in an industrial or marine trade is preferred (high school shop class, junior college or vocational training). A specialty at Svendsen's Bay Marine is the construction and reconstruction of historic and traditional vessels. Past projects include rebuilds of the scow schooner Alma and three- masted schooner CA Thayer, construction of the 120' brig Niagara and recaulking of the USS Constitution.
