Job Description
The Stockton Port District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Carpenter. This is a Journeyman-level classification, which under general supervision performs the full range of skilled building construction, maintenance and repair tasks.

Examples of Duties:
Performs and assists in a wide variety of routine maintenance and repair duties throughout the Port facilities; cleans, repairs and maintains a broad range of assigned areas; performs other tasks as needed. Constructs, levels, erects, installs, and repairs structures, building framework and fixtures of wood, plywood, steel, and wallboard with the use of hand tools and power tools. Erects scaffoldings of all types in preparation for carpentry work. Alters, repairs, and constructs a variety of building structures such as walls, partitions, doorways, window casings, stairways and roofs. Installs window glass and screens; installs flooring and roofing material; applies wall covering materials; assembles and repairs cabinets, counters, shelves, and miscellaneous furniture. Experience :
A minimum of four (4) years related experience at a Journeyman-level.
Certificates and Licenses :
Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and be insurable under the Port's liability policy or provide other insurance acceptable to the Port. Medical clearance for respirator use. Must pass a background investigation and be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

Port:
The Port of Stockton was established under the California Harbors and Navigation Code. It is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners (Board). Four commissioners are appointed by the Stockton City Council and three by the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. The day-to-day administration of Port operations is under the direction of the Port Director who is selected by and serves at the will of the Board. The Port is a deep-water port located seventy-five miles inland from San Francisco, in the agricultural heartland of California in San Joaquin County. The Port owns and operates marine terminals which are used to load and unload cargo from ships, barges, trucks, and railcars, and to store cargos.
