Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Painter to join our dynamic construction and renovation team. In this pivotal role, you will lead painting projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet client specifications and safety standards. Your expertise will drive the success of our projects from prep work to final touches, inspiring your team to deliver exceptional results with precision and efficiency. Some travel and long term stays required within Colorado mountain towns. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate painting projects on construction sites, overseeing preparation, application, and finishing processes. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine scope and materials needed. Apply various painting techniques including airless spray, brush, roller, and specialty finishes such as stucco or industrial coatings. Able to apply Water based stains and topcoat products. Supervise and mentor team members, assigning tasks related to surface preparation, caulking, plastering, trim carpentry, masonry, and restoration work. Manage material estimates for paint quantities, primers, sealants, and specialty coatings; assist in construction estimating when needed. Perform quality inspections throughout the project lifecycle to ensure flawless application and adherence to client expectations. Coordinate with other trades such as carpentry, masonry, drywall installation, fixture installation, and welding to facilitate seamless project execution. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while managing tools including hand tools, power tools, scaffolding equipment, and spray systems. Troubleshoot issues on-site related to surface imperfections or coating failures; recommend appropriate solutions promptly. Bilingual would be a plus for this position. Working in customer homes for high end residential and commercial properties. Able to jump in a perform different tasks and willingness to lean different processes with a hands on approach. Skills Extensive experience in residential painting, commercial painting, construction painting, and industrial coatings. Strong knowledge of color theory for creating visually appealing finishes tailored to client preferences. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools including airless paint sprayers, scaffolding setups, and maintenance of equipment. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings accurately; familiarity with schematics for industrial systems preferred. Skilled in surface preparation techniques such as sanding, plastering, caulking (including fixture installation), restoration work, and concrete finishing. Solid understanding of construction estimating processes related to paint materials and labor costs; basic math skills essential. Knowledge of renovation processes involving framing carpentry (including trim carpentry), stucco application, masonry work (including brickwork), and remodeling projects. Experience with maintenance tasks on construction sites; handyman experience is a plus. Familiarity with safety protocols on construction sites; ability to lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment. Knowledge of HVLP spraying techniques Master of prep, containment, and masking processes. Finish carpentry skills a plus and will be required with this position. Interior painting and finishing skills a must for the quality of application. Additional skills that enhance performance include coatings or repairs; working with fixtures; understanding of industrial painting standards; experience in restoration projects.
