Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Scenic Carpenter to join our dynamic production team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and construction, with experience in creating and installing scenic elements for theater, film, or live events. This role involves collaborating closely with designers and production staff to bring creative visions to life through precise craftsmanship and safe construction practices. The Scenic Carpenter will be responsible for building, installing, and maintaining scenic structures, ensuring all work meets safety standards and project specifications. Responsibilities Construct, assemble, and install scenic elements using various materials including wood, metal, foam, and fabric. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute designs. Utilize hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble components. Perform framing, trim carpentry, cabinetry, door hanging, fixture installation, and other carpentry tasks as required. Execute concrete forming, rebar installation, masonry work, roofing, siding, stucco application, and water damage restoration projects when necessary. Manage heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently during the construction process. Measure accurately and ensure all scenic elements are built to specifications with attention to detail. Collaborate with the production team on remodeling projects or restoration efforts within the facility or on-site locations. Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety protocols at all times. Assist with demolition or removal of existing structures as needed for new installations or renovations. Skills Extensive experience in construction estimating and blueprint reading. Proficiency in trim carpentry, frame carpentry, metal stud framing, drywall installation (including plastering), flooring installation, tile laying, and cabinetry. Skilled in the use of hand tools (saws, hammers, chisels), power tools (drills, sanders), CNC machinery, and fabrication equipment. Strong background in construction site experience across various industries including manufacturing and restoration industry experience. Knowledge of schematics for fixture installation or electrical wiring related to scenic elements. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining precision in craftsmanship. Experience with plumbing systems or electrical work is a plus but not mandatory. Familiarity with mold remediation techniques or water damage restoration processes is advantageous. Capable of working independently or as part of a team on complex projects requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety standards. Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour
