In this role, you will be responsible for altering, retrofitting, and assembling high-end cabinetry, as well as fabricating, assembling, and installing dovetail drawer boxes. The position requires strong craftsmanship, proficiency with woodworking shop equipment, and an eye for seamless finishes.
Responsibilities Cabinet Modification:
Modify, resize, and reconfigure pre-built and custom cabinet boxes, face frames, fillers, and decorative trim to fit unique architectural spaces or appliance cutouts.
Cabinet Assembly:
Assemble cabinet carcasses, face frames, doors, and hardware (e.g., soft-close concealed hinges, under-mount drawer slides) according to shop drawings and design specifications.
Dovetail Joinery:
Cut, machine, assemble, clamp, and sand dovetail drawer boxes (including half-blind and through dovetails) using dovetail jigs, routers, shapers, or dedicated joinery machinery.
Hardware & Slide Fitting:
Install and calibrate drawer slide systems (e.g., Blum, Grass, Hettich), ensuring proper clearances, smooth operation, and reveal alignment.
Finishing & Prep:
Sand, touch up, and prepare modified and assembled pieces for staining, painting, or topcoat finishing.
Job Site & Shop Tasks:
Perform accurate on-site measurements, scribe panels and fillers to uneven walls or floors, and conduct final adjustments.
Safety & Maintenance:
Operate and maintain shop equipment (table saws, miter saws, routers, pocket hole machines, edge banders) strictly adhering to OSHA and workplace safety standards.
Skills Experience:
3+ years of professional woodworking, finish carpentry, or cabinet shop experience.
Ability to read and execute architectural blueprints, shop cut lists, and detailed elevation drawings accurately.
Tool Proficiency:
Advanced skill with hand tools (chisels, block planes) and stationary power machinery (table saws, shaper tables, router tables, jointers, planers).
Hardware Knowledge:
Deep familiarity with modern cabinet hardware, including under-mount slides, concealed Euro hinges, and lift systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in shop or construction site conditions.
