Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Carpenter to oversee and execute high-quality carpentry work on construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in frame carpentry, trim work, and reading construction plans. As a Lead Carpenter, you will play a vital role in guiding the carpentry team, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards. This position offers an opportunity to lead by example on construction sites and contribute to the successful delivery of residential or commercial building projects. Duties Lead and supervise carpentry, and finish work on various construction sites, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and detailed drawings to accurately execute framing, trim, and other carpentry tasks as well as overall finish work. Measure and mark dimensions precisely using tape measures and other tools to ensure proper fit and finish of all carpentry components. Experience with framing structures including walls, floors, roofs, and other structural elements as per project requirements. Perform trim carpentry work such as installing baseboards, crown molding, door/window casings, and other finish details, and overall finish work. Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship while adhering to safety protocols and building codes. Collaborate with project manager, architects, and other trades to coordinate work schedules and resolve on-site issues promptly. Conduct quality control checks throughout the project to ensure accuracy in dimensional measurements and overall workmanship. Mentor junior team members by sharing expertise in carpentry techniques and safety practices. Qualifications Proven experience in frame carpentry with a strong understanding of construction site operations. Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction plans with the ability to translate drawings into physical structures. Skilled in using tape measures accurately for dimensional measurements. Demonstrated expertise in trim carpentry including installation of moldings and finishing details. Extensive hands-on experience with construction plans, framing techniques, and site management. Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards. Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to adapt quickly to on-site challenges. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices within the construction industry.
