$19 per hour Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Carpenter to join our busy 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) team in Port Wentworth. You will be responsible for designing, measuring, and constructing custom wooden shipping crates, skids, and pallets. In addition to woodworking, this role requires hands-on assistance with loading, blocking, bracing, and handling heavy or oversized dimensional cargo prior to shipping.
Key Responsibilities Crate Construction:
Build custom-sized crates and heavy-duty shipping skids from raw lumber based on varying freight dimensions.
Power Tool Operation:
Safely operate table saws, miter saws, circular saws, pneumatic nail guns, and heavy-duty staplers.
Cargo Securement:
Outfit shipping containers and flatbeds; properly block, brace, and strap dimensional freight for safe transport.
Material Handling:
Assist with the physical loading, unloading, and staging of oversized or delicate equipment using forklifts or pallet jacks (certification is a plus).
Inventory Control:
Track lumber, hardware, and shipping supply inventory to ensure the wood shop remains stocked and organized.
Safety & Compliance:
Strictly adhere to OSHA and warehouse safety regulations, including wearing required PPE. Qualifications 1+ years of professional carpentry, framing, or custom crate-building experience. Ability to accurately read a tape measure, blueprints, and production work orders. Strong mathematical and spatial awareness for sizing custom packaging. Safely operate pneumatic nail guns, hammers, measuring tapes, and other carpentry tools. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. Forklift certification or willingness to be certified on-site is highly desired.
