Residential Carpenter Job Description This role involves working on a variety of residential carpentry projects across the Chicagoland suburbs, including new construction and full gut remodels. You will contribute to wood and metal framing, drywall installation, and finish carpentry on single-family homes and other residential properties. Project locations extend throughout the surrounding suburbs, up to Wisconsin, west to DeKalb, and south to the I-80 corridor, with scheduling coordinated as closely as possible to your home area. Responsibilities + Perform residential carpentry work on new build construction and full gut residential remodel projects. + Complete wood framing and metal stud framing for walls, ceilings, and other structural or non-structural components. + Install, hang, and finish drywall as part of residential construction and renovation projects. + Execute high-quality finish carpentry, including trim work, doors, casing, baseboards, and other interior finishes. + Use a full range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and assembling materials. + Read and follow directions from supervisors or project leads to ensure work aligns with project specifications. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on active construction and remodel sites. + Transport, set up, and properly store personal carpentry tools and equipment on each job site. + Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. + Adapt to working on different types of residential projects and tasks as needed across various locations. Essential Skills + Proven residential carpentry experience, including work on new construction and remodel projects. + Strong wood framing skills for residential structures. + Experience with metal stud framing in residential applications. + Proficiency in finish carpentry, including interior trim and detailed finishing work. + Ability to perform drywall installation and related carpentry tasks. + Ownership of personal carpentry tools suitable for residential construction work. + Competent use of hand tools and power tools in a construction environment. + Capability to work on multiple residential sites across the Chicagoland suburbs and surrounding areas.
