Job Description

Commercial Carpenter. $25-40/hr. Job Description This role requires a skilled Commercial Carpenter who performs wood and metal stud framing, acoustic ceiling installation, and drywall backing on commercial projects. You accurately read and interpret blueprints, lay out framing systems, and install commercial doors, frames, and hardware including locks, closers, and panic devices. You work safely and efficiently with hand and power tools, maintain a strong attention to detail, and contribute effectively both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Perform wood and metal stud framing for commercial structures according to project specifications and blueprints. Read and interpret blueprints to accurately lay out framing systems, openings, and dimensions. Install acoustic ceiling systems, including grid and tile, ensuring proper alignment and finish. Install commercial doors, frames, and associated hardware such as locks, closers, and panic devices. Install drywall backing and related supports to prepare surfaces for drywall installation. Set and align door frames and windows to meet design specifications and building codes. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to cut, assemble, and secure framing and finishes. Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements. Follow construction safety standards and site-specific safety procedures at all times. Collaborate with other trades and team members to coordinate tasks and maintain project schedules. Work independently when required, managing time and tasks to complete assignments on schedule. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and materials. Essential Skills At least 3 years of commercial carpentry experience. Proficiency in wood stud and metal stud framing for commercial projects. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. Experience installing acoustic ceilings, including grid and tile systems. Skill in installing commercial doors, frames, and hardware such as locks, closers, and panic devices. Proficiency with hand tools commonly used in commercial carpentry. Proficiency with power tools, including saws, drills, and fastening tools. Knowledge of construction safety standards and safe work practices. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a commercial construction environment. OSHA 10 certification. OSHA 30 certification. Boom lift certification or demonstrated ability to operate a boom lift safely. Scissor lift certification or demonstrated ability to operate a scissor lift safely. First Aid certification. CPR certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience installing windows in commercial framing systems. Experience working on a variety of commercial construction projects and job sites. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to framing, doors, and hardware in the field. Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, trades, and project teams. Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in active commercial construction environments, performing tasks both indoors and outdoors depending on the project. Typical shifts run from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., depending on the jobsite. You regularly use hand and power tools, as well as equipment such as boom lifts and scissor lifts, while following established safety procedures. The role requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, high-visibility apparel, and work boots throughout the workday.

C Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glenview, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $40.00/hr.
