Summary The construction carpenter performs tasks involving physical labor, carpentry skills, and concrete formwork at highway construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, measure and cut wood, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up, assemble and set formwork, place concrete, and perform many other construction-related tasks. The position may assist other craft workers.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in highway construction projects; performs manual work. Prepares layout, using measuring tape and framing square Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials Shapes material to prescribed measurements Assembles cut and shaped material and fastens them together Builds and sets concrete formwork Place concrete into forms Builds various wooden structures and objects Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembly structures above ground level. Regardless of other duties, has a responsibility to follow HALL Contracting of Kentucky's safety, and quality procedures.
Maintains a clean job site:
picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Performs materials handling and storage. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials. Help other trades on the job when asked to Comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements Must be physically healthy to stand, bend, and walk for up to 10-12 hours a day Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. This position is performed in outside weather conditions Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Requirements:
3+ Years of experience performing carpentry work. Must have a carpenter tool belt with hand tools - Power tools to be supplied by contractor Must be at least 18 years of age. Applicant must have no prior history that is violent in nature and/or theft-related in the last 7 years Comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Hours of work vary based on project needs and weather conditions. Overtime as required.
