Job Summary:
The individual will be responsible for performing carpentry work as well as a variety of general maintenance and renovation tasks on marine transport vessels and at shoreside facilities. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Weekends and overtime will be assigned as needed. What you'll get: 8 paid holidays. Paid time off. What you'll do: Read/comprehend technical documents and drawings to properly build and/or repair structures. Perform a variety of carpentry work which requires the building, dismantling and repairing of walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, doors, windows and framing. Install insulation when performing renovation projects. Perform general maintenance tasks such as sanding, painting and coating materials with epoxy. Perform basic plumbing duties such as repairing/installing toilets, sinks and showers. Safely operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and saws to complete duties. Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, personnel lifts and other mechanical devices. Carry equipment to worksite such as lumber and various parts/tooling. May be required to perform confined space entries to access workspaces. Perform basic cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping and discarding trash. What you'll need: Valid Driver's License. Experience in general construction, cabinet skills, and finish work is required. Must have basic carpentry skills including but not limited to taking measurements and calculations, reading blueprints, proficient with power tools and fundamental math.
