Job Description

SUMMARY Plans, organizes and finishes carpentry in the alteration and construction of buildings, cabinets, and specialty wood items and perform related work. by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Primary duties and responsibilities include the following, and additional duties may be assigned: Performs rough and finish carpentry including building additions and special products; builds and installs floors and wall coverings, ceiling materials, paneling, plastic laminates, and hardware; repairs broken windows, doors, walls, and ceilings; installs door jambs and hangs metal and wood doors; finishes walls with wood, structural metal, lath, and plaster; repairs/replaces railings, hand rails, stair treads, nosings and gratings; builds platforms, podiums, partitions, ramps, and fences; installs insulation and weather stripping; maintains and repairs machinery, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade; may paint, and stain. Perform work in a safe manner and actively encourages other to do the same.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises one or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Escalate complaints and provides resolution to existing problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
Diploma or carpentry certificate with 3 or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of rough and finish carpentry; tools, equipment, materials and safety practices of carpentry work; building techniques of new and remodel construction; masonry, concrete, and wood construction.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts such as addition, subtractions, discounts, interest, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
