A carpenter is a trade professional with an eye for detail, an ability to problem solve, and takes pride in their craft. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of building systems, building materials, carpentry tools, best practices, and industry safety standards. We value the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, or individually with little supervision. A positive attitude and hard work ethic are essential. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products. Responsibilities Read blueprints, drawings and sketches Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed Cut, install, shape and/or smooth lumber and other materials according to measurements Build and install windows, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items Lay out and install floor systems, wall systems, roof systems, ensuring they are square/plumb/level as applicable Assemble cabinets, shelves and other building products and install them where designated Inspect installations and conduct repairs or maintenance Build scaffolding and other construction structures Skills Proven experience as carpenter including hands-on experience with various carpentry tasks Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction Proficient in using trade equipment and tools Ability to read technical documents and drawings Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times Fluent in English Good understanding of basic math Good physical condition and endurance
