Job Description
Our motto is simple:
Do It Right. We are looking for someone who shares that same standard — someone who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, knows how to lead a crew, and is willing to work hands-on alongside the team. About the Role The Foreman / Lead Carpenter is a skilled residential construction professional who leads a small crew while actively performing carpentry and construction work in the field. This position works closely with the Superintendent to help keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and according to Mt. Tabor Builders' quality standards. The right person will be comfortable giving direction, solving problems on site, mentoring team members, and making sure the finished work reflects the level of craftsmanship our clients expect. What You'll Do/Crew Leadership Lead and direct a crew of approximately 4-6 Craftsmen on residential construction job sites. Assign daily work and help keep the crew organized, productive, and focused. Provide clear direction and support throughout the workday. Train, mentor, and encourage Craftsmen as they continue to develop their skills. Communicate regularly with the Superintendent regarding project progress, materials, job site needs, and concerns. Help maintain a safe, respectful, and professional job site. Hands-On Construction and Carpentry Work alongside the crew performing skilled residential construction and carpentry work. Assist with framing, siding, roofing, decks, additions, renovations, remodeling, timber framing, and general carpentry. Read and follow building plans, specifications, and construction drawings. Help identify and resolve field issues so work can continue moving forward. Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company craftsmanship standards. Maintain attention to detail and quality from start to finish. What We're Looking For The right candidate is a strong carpenter, a steady leader, and someone who takes pride in doing quality work the right way. Qualifications Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and carpentry practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. Experience leading, guiding, or mentoring a small construction crew. Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment in the field. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others. Reliable, safety-minded, and team-oriented. Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Minimum of 5-7 years of residential construction or carpentry experience required. Prior experience as a Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or crew lead preferred. Valid driver's license required. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position works primarily on residential construction job sites and requires physically active, hands-on work in outdoor environments. Employees may be exposed to construction equipment, loud noise, airborne particles, dust, and changing weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, and rain. This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting. The ability to safely climb ladders and scaffolding and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when needed, is required. Why Join Mt. Tabor Builders? At Mt. Tabor Builders, you will be part of a team that values craftsmanship, teamwork, integrity, and customer service. We take pride in helping clients build the home, addition, or renovation they envisioned — and we believe that starts with doing the work right. This is a good opportunity for someone who wants steady residential construction work, the chance to lead a crew, and the satisfaction of seeing high-quality projects come together from the ground up. Additional Information The duties, responsibilities, and qualifications listed in this posting are not intended to be a complete list. Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate. Mt. Tabor Builders will consider reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable law. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position, unless doing so would create an undue hardship or pose a direct threat to health or safety.Work Location:
