Job Description

Maine Coast Contracting | Midcoast Maine Competitive starting wage | Earning potential up to $50/hour

+ Benefits

+ Performance Bonuses We're Looking for Professional Tradespeople Maine Coast Contracting is looking for experienced carpenters who take their craft seriously and want to build exceptional homes with a professional company. We're not simply looking for someone who has spent years in construction. We're looking for someone who knows how to build. Someone who can look at a set of plans, understand the objective, organize the work, anticipate problems, and execute at a high level without needing someone standing behind them. Someone who understands that craftsmanship and productivity aren't competing ideas. Someone who leaves a jobsite better than they found it. And someone who makes the people working around them better. If that describes you, we're prepared to compensate you accordingly. Compensation Professional carpenters at MCC can earn up to $50/hour. That number is real. We believe exceptional tradespeople create tremendous value, and we're willing to pay accordingly. Initial compensation will be based on your experience and demonstrated capabilities. For candidates pursuing compensation at the upper end of our range, we use the first approximately 90 days to evaluate performance in our environment and establish the appropriate long-term compensation and level of responsibility. We're not expecting you to prove your career in an interview. We want to see what you can do. And those 90 days work both ways—you should be evaluating MCC just as seriously as we're evaluating you. What We Evaluate We're interested in the complete tradesperson.

That includes:

Craftsmanship — Is your finished work consistently excellent? Productivity — Can you produce quality work at a professional pace? Independence — Can you take responsibility for complicated work without constant supervision? Planning — Are you thinking several steps ahead about materials, tools, sequencing, and potential problems? Problem-solving — When conditions aren't exactly what the plans anticipated, can you develop a good solution? Organization — Do you maintain an efficient, professional jobsite? Ownership — Do you take responsibility for the outcome rather than simply completing assigned tasks? Communication — Can project managers and coworkers depend on you to communicate clearly? Leadership — Do you make the people working beside you better? Attitude — Are you someone talented people want on their crew? Those are the qualities that justify high-level compensation at MCC. Compensation & Benefits In addition to competitive hourly compensation, MCC offers: Earning potential up to $50/hour Performance bonus opportunities PTO Paid holidays 401(k) with company match Company contribution toward health insurance Top-quality professional tools and equipment Four-day workweek Opportunities for leadership and increased responsibility High-quality custom residential projects Our normal field schedule is: Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM-5:30 PM We work hard while we're at work and give our crew a consistent three-day weekend. The Work MCC is a residential design-build company specializing in custom homes, renovations, and high-performance construction throughout Midcoast Maine.

Our projects can involve:

Structural and complex framing High-performance building assemblies Windows and doors Exterior trim and siding Decks and porches Interior finish carpentry Cabinetry and built-ins Renovation and restoration Detailed custom work Construction problem-solving Leading and mentoring developing carpenters We value versatile carpenters who understand how the entire building goes together. High Standards Go Both Ways We expect our tradespeople to perform at a professional level. In return, MCC has an obligation to provide an environment where professionals can succeed. That means thoughtful planning. Quality tools and equipment. Clear communication. Organized projects. Opportunities to grow. Respect for the people doing the work. And compensation that recognizes people who create significant value. We're not interested in getting the cheapest labor possible. We're interested in building a team of exceptional tradespeople, creating an environment where they want to stay, and rewarding the people who help the company succeed. Our Philosophy The best construction companies shouldn't succeed at the expense of their employees. And employees can't succeed long-term if the company doesn't succeed.

We want something better:

The client wins. The company wins. And the people who made the project successful win. That's why we're developing our performance bonus structure around project efficiency and team performance. When our team produces excellent work efficiently, we want the people responsible for that performance to share in the success. Who Should Apply You should consider MCC if you're an experienced carpenter who: Takes genuine pride in your work Works efficiently Can operate independently Thinks ahead Solves problems instead of simply identifying them Maintains an organized jobsite Takes care of tools and equipment Communicates well Takes ownership of your work Enjoys teaching less-experienced tradespeople Wants responsibility Wants your contribution to be recognized Wants to work with other people who care about what they're building If you're looking for a place where nobody notices whether you're productive, organized, or improving, MCC probably isn't the right company. If you're looking for a professional construction company where high performance creates greater opportunity , we'd like to talk. Apply through Indeed and tell us about your construction experience, the type of work you're strongest at, and what you're looking for in your next company.
