Bench Carpenter Detroit, Michigan At VDB, our team include skilled craftspersons and architects who seek to improve the quality of the built environment in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. Ideal candidates will possess qualities of reliability, leadership, and integrity.
Responsibilities include:
High proficiency in a variety of power and hand tools, woodworking machinery, and maintenance setup. Knowledgeable of millwork and finish carpentry techniques. Metal fabrication, Corian or upholstery experience a bonus. Responsible for maintaining a clean workplace environment in compliance with company policy. Follows production schedule and performs all work in accordance with Company quality, security, safety plans, procedures, and standards. Performs all work in accordance with Company standards and safety requirements: Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, and optional PPE such as hearing and breathing protection depending on tasks being performed. Study shop drawings to be constructed, and plans sequence of cutting from cutlist. Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files. May install hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls. May assist others with daily tasks , techniques, and jobs. Uses machinery in a proper and safe manner. May act as lead on smaller individual projects as needed. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor Qualifications include: Must be able to work in a production facility with/without air conditioning and with production noise and dust. Must be willing to work occasional overtime as required. Capable of lifting or moving up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis, 25 pounds on a constant basis, and standing for long periods of time Prefer at least 3 or more years in millwork/carpentry or manufacturing. Bonus if open to doing installations in the Detroit Metro area. Pay based on experience
