Mercer Co. is a family-owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan with seven locations - six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance. A Carpenter at R.W. Mercer is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled carpentry tasks within our general contracting division. As our team continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Carpenter with a preferred minimum of five years of industry experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and hands-on experience in wood and metal framing, composite siding installation, drywall hanging and finishing, and finish carpentry, while consistently delivering high-quality craftsmanship and contributing to the successful completion of construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation of wooden and metal structures: framing, rafters, joists, and stud work Installation of composite siding Assist with drywall installation (hang and finish) Finish carpentry work
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES
Verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with customers and team members Strong organizational skills Work well under pressure and meet constant deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree or equivalent 5-10 years Construction industry experience preferred Previous experience as a Foreman/ Supervisor preferred CDL license preferred but not required

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. May be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; possibly stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach and twist; push, pull, lift and/or carry light to moderate amounts of weight; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
