Job Title:
Finish Carpenter (Division 9 - Final Exterior and Interior Finishes) Job Description This role focuses on installing and detailing interior finish components, including trim, doors, hardware, wall systems, and architectural woodwork, in accordance with Division 09 specifications. The finish carpenter ensures that all work meets high standards for appearance, durability, and overall quality, contributing to the final look and functionality of the space. Responsibilities Install and detail interior finish components such as trim, doors, hardware, wall systems, and architectural woodwork according to Division 09 specifications. Perform precise finish carpentry work to achieve high-quality appearance, durability, and long-term performance. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete installation and finishing tasks. Install and adjust doors and windows to ensure proper fit, operation, and alignment. Perform surface preparation and sanding to create smooth, uniform surfaces ready for final finishes. Install cabinetry and related finish components with a strong focus on accuracy and detail. Complete rough carpentry tasks as needed to support final finish work, including working with metal studs. Measure, cut, and fit materials accurately using a tape measure and other measuring tools. Follow project plans, specifications, and Division 09 quality standards throughout all phases of work. Maintain a clean, organized work area and protect occupied spaces from dust and damage during construction activities. Collaborate with a small crew to coordinate tasks, meet project deadlines, and support a safe work environment. Adhere to all safety procedures and site regulations while working in an occupied school setting. Essential Skills Proven finish carpentry experience with a strong focus on trim, doors, hardware, wall systems, and architectural woodwork. Hands-on experience with installation of doors, windows, and cabinetry in commercial or institutional settings. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools commonly used in carpentry and finish work. Ability to perform surface preparation and sanding to achieve high-quality finish-ready surfaces. Experience with rough carpentry tasks, including work with metal studs when required. Strong measuring and layout skills, including accurate use of a tape measure. Ability to read and follow project specifications related to Division 09 finishes. Commitment to quality workmanship, appearance, and durability of installed finishes. Reliability to work a schedule of six 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Saturday. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10 certification preferred. Valid driver's license preferred. Experience working in occupied spaces, particularly in school or institutional environments, is beneficial. Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew and communicate clearly with team members. Flexibility to move to additional projects in the same area after completion of the current assignment. The typical schedule consists of six 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Saturday, with a minimum of 10 hours of work per day. You work closely with a small crew in active, finished or nearly finished spaces, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the project. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
