Job Description

  • Carpenter - Local Work - Start ASAP
  • This role focuses primarily on trim carpentry while requiring a versatile professional who can perform a wide range of construction tasks from initial conceptual development through project completion.
You will work on commercial new builds, contributing to formwork, rough and finish carpentry, selective demolition, and general construction activities. The position requires strong technical skills, the ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints, safe operation of hand and power tools, and strict adherence to company policies and OSHA guidelines. Responsibilities Perform trim, rough, and finish carpentry on commercial construction projects. Execute formwork and rough carpentry, ensuring structures meet design specifications and quality standards. Install doors and hardware, cabinets, backing, ceiling grid and tile, and complete drywall work including installation and finishing. Lay brick and block, tie rebar, dig footings, and assist with finish concrete work and setting forms. Perform minor plumbing and electrical tasks as required to support overall project completion. Read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, technical plans, blueprints, and models to guide daily work. Use mathematics for layout, shoot grades and elevations, and perform accurate layout using sight levels or transits. Operate and maintain construction equipment and tools safely and efficiently. Assist equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled laborers as needed to keep projects on schedule. Prepare construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards to create a safe and efficient work area. Handle loading, unloading, and movement of materials and equipment on site. Assemble and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding in accordance with safety standards. Excavate, fill, and compact earth as needed for foundations, utilities, and other site work. Support craft workers and participate in general labor tasks to ensure smooth project execution. Participate in on-the-job training and apply new skills and techniques as learned. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades to coordinate work and resolve issues. Travel to various job sites, primarily in Lincoln and surrounding areas, as project needs require. Consistently follow company policies and OSHA safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment. Skills & Qualifications Experience working on commercial new build projects. Familiarity with pre-engineered metal structures and willingness to assist with related tasks. Ability to support craft workers across multiple trades and adapt to changing project needs. Comfort working as a jack of all trades rather than in a narrowly specialized role. Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and continuously develop skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in layout and measurement. Reliability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced construction environment Work Environment This role is based primarily on commercial new build construction sites, with a focus on trim, rough, and finish carpentry as well as work on pre-engineered metal structures. You will work with a variety of hand and power tools, construction equipment, and temporary structures such as scaffolding. The position requires regular travel to job sites, primarily in Lincoln but also in surrounding areas, depending on project needs. The environment is hands-on and field-based, with outdoor and indoor work conditions typical of commercial construction projects. Safety is a core priority, and all work follows OSHA guidelines and company safety policies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
