Job Description
PURPOSE:
The Door and Trim Carpentry Foreman is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing all field and/or shop activities related to door installation and finish carpentry. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to high-quality standards while managing crews, materials, and communication between the field, shop, and management.
DESCRIPTION
: Supervise and lead trim carpenters, apprentices, and installers in the field Coordinate daily work activities and assign tasks based on project priorities Oversee installation of: Interior and exterior doors (pre-hung and slab) Baseboards, crown molding, casing, and specialty trim Ensure proper door operation, alignment, and hardware functionality Interpret blueprints, plans, and finish schedules Communicate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades Track project progress and ensure deadlines are met Manage material deliveries, staging, and job site organization Enforce safety standards and job site compliance Inspect completed work for quality control and punch list readiness Train and mentor crew members to improve skill and productivity EquipmentTools Miter saws, table saws, and routers Nail guns (finish, brad, and specialty tools) Levels, laser tools, squares, and layout equipment Door installation tools and hardware kits
KNOWLEDGEEXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required 5-10+ years in trim carpentry or door installation 2-5+ years in a lead or supervisory role Experience in both field installation and coordination preferred Background in punch work, service work, or shop coordination is a plus Advanced finish carpentry and door installation techniques Strong understanding of door systems and hardware applications Blueprint reading and layout interpretation Construction sequencing and job site coordination Quality standards for residential and/or commercial finish work
