This position is ideal for a carpenter with approximately 5 years of experience who has developed a solid foundation of carpentry and construction skills and is looking to continue building their experience on a variety of projects. Our projects include commercial office, retail, and multi-family residential construction and renovations, with carpentry work primarily focused on metal stud partition framing, doors and hardware, finish carpentry and trim, millwork and cabinetry installation, acoustical ceilings, and other interior construction components. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with common carpentry tools and materials, reading basic construction drawings and dimensions, and completing assigned work accurately and safely. We are looking for a dependable tradesperson who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, works well as part of a construction team, and is interested in continuing to develop their carpentry skills and knowledge. As part of Ellicott Development Company's construction team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced carpenters, foremen, and superintendents on a diverse range of projects throughout our portfolio. Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned carpentry work including metal stud framing, blocking and backing, finish carpentry, trim, and general interior construction.
  • Assist with and perform installation of doors, frames, and door hardware, including basic adjustments for proper fit and operation.
  • Install millwork, cabinetry, countertops, trim, and other finished components according to drawings, field measurements, and direction from the project foreman or superintendent.
  • Assist with and perform installation of acoustical ceiling grid and tile systems, including grid, perimeter trim, ceiling tile, and related components.
  • Read and follow construction drawings, plans, details, dimensions, and field instructions to complete assigned work.
  • Accurately measure, cut, fit, fasten, assemble, and install materials using appropriate carpentry methods and tools.
  • Work cooperatively with foremen, superintendents, other carpenters, subcontractors, and trades to complete assigned work and maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, properly use and care for company tools and equipment, and follow company and jobsite safety requirements. Skills & Qualifications
  • Approximately 5 years of carpentry or related construction experience, with experience in commercial, residential, multi-family, renovation, or interior construction.
  • Working knowledge of common carpentry methods, with experience in areas such as framing, finish carpentry, trim, doors, millwork, cabinetry, blocking, and/or acoustical ceilings. Commercial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with doors, frames, and hardware and the ability to perform basic installation and adjustments.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, dimensions, and details and apply them to assigned work with direction from a foreman or superintendent as needed.
  • Proficient in the safe use of common hand tools and power tools, with a working knowledge of construction materials, fasteners, and basic installation methods.
  • Good measuring, basic layout, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to follow direction and complete assigned tasks accurately.
  • Understanding of construction-site safety practices and the physical ability to perform carpentry work, including lifting and handling materials and working from ladders or lifts.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation required, with the ability to travel to various project and jobsite locations as needed.
