Job Description
Seeking a skilled remodeling carpenter to improve and maintain quality rental properties and help position us to purchase more units to grow the portfolio. Responsibilities Complete remodels (inside & out). Most of our work is detail-oriented. As the Lead Carpenter, you'll be responsible for supervising and coordinating the subcontractors and any other service folks. Maintain our existing tenants. Service calls, grounds work, and whatever else needs doing. Field leads for prospective tenants, show apartments, and deliver leases. Benefits Competitive pay, with vacation time. The work we do is almost always doing it the "right way". We are not band-aiding or polishing turds. We want to feel proud of what we've done. Most of your work is either downtown Buffalo or the Kenmore area. Autonomy—Answer only to the owner. Work mostly by yourself. We want you to be part of the family. We are a small team, all working together to accomplish the same job. Qualifications You should be a carpenter because you are proud of the work you do, not strictly for the paycheck. Have experience installing cabinets, doors, tile, basic plumbing, and basic electrical. Know how to work a break as well as a pocket-hole jig. Minimum four years of experience doing complete home remodels. Ideally, you understand how a house actually works—some building science—the envelope. You should have the basic tools needed to do the job, along with a truck or trailer to carry them Be at least a little bit charming and fun to work with, because part of your job is keeping the tenants happy. It would be great if you knew how to work a computer so you could leave notes on a tenant, vendor, or subcontractor—or edit a lease.
