Job Description

Position Overview :
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Carpenter to join our construction team based out of Copiague, NY. This position plays a vital role in executing commercial renovation and tenant fit-out projects across multiple counties in the Hudson Valley region. As a key field employee, you will be responsible for a broad range of carpentry tasks, including wood and metal stud framing, drywall installation, door and window fitting, finish carpentry, and general punch-list work. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform commercial renovation carpentry, including but not limited to: Wood and metal stud framing Sheetrock/drywall hanging and finishing Installation of doors, frames, hardware, and windows Acoustical ceiling installation Baseboards, trim, casework, and millwork Punch list and finish work Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions to determine job specifications and layout Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install materials using hand and power tools with precision Assist with demolition, site preparation, and material handling as needed Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards May maintain inventory and ensure proper care of tools, equipment, and supplies Coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and clients on-site
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience in commercial construction. Must provide own set of hand tools. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to various job sites. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction documents. Strong understanding of current building codes, materials, tools, and methods. Excellent problem-solving and time management skills. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors. OSHA 40 certification required. Additional certifications (e.g., SST, Fall Protection) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, and climb ladders/scaffolding for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds regularly. Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and dust. Must have full range of motion in limbs and dexterity in using carpentry tools and materials. Occasional use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection, is required.
Work Environment:
This is a field-based role requiring daily travel to active construction sites. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in active commercial settings such as office buildings, retail units, schools, and healthcare facilities. Candidate must be adaptable to changing work conditions and schedules based on project timelines.

Qualifying projects are compensated according to New York State Prevailing Wage laws.
